Claire Galo-Place commence en 1994, à l’âge de quinze ans, une carrière de harpiste soliste. Après avoir obtenu la médaille d’or du conservatoire de Douai, le prix de la ville de Paris et le premier prix de perfectionnement du conservatoire de Troyes, elle est lauréate 2001 de la bourse Lavoisier du gouvernement français qui lui permet de poursuivre ses études aux Etats-Unis dans la prestigieuse classe de Susan MacDonald. Elle obtient en 2003 un Master en harpe département soliste de l’Université de Bloomington, Indiana. Lauréate 2003 du concours International de Soka au Japon, Claire Galo-Place commence une carrière d’envergure internationale en tant que soliste et chambriste. Depuis ces deux dernières années, elle s’est passionnée pour Jean Cras, marin et compositeur du début du XXe siècle, ce qui l’a conduite à fonder l’Association Jean Cras dont elle est la directrice artistique.
Her solo debut took place in 1994 at the age of 15. Amongst her many accomplishments, she has won a gold medal at the Douai Conservatory in the class of Annie Desmarets, First Prize from the City of Paris in the class of Frédérique Cambreling and a European Concert Diploma in the class of Béatrice Guillermin. She won the Lavoisier Grant in 2001, which enabled her to study in the USA under the tutelage of renowned harpist Susan MacDonald. She got her Masters in Harp Performance from the Indiana University of Bloomington in 2003. The same year she was prize-winner of the Soka Harp Competition in Japan and then started her international career. Her last tours as soloist brought her to Europe, the United States, North Africa and the Caribbean. For the last two years, she has enthusiastically defended the work of Jean Cras, sailor and composer of the early twentieth century, a passion which has led her to found the Association and the Ensemble Jean Cras.
